about Living in a castle
Object description
The impressive moated castle is one of the most important rococo castles in Upper Bavaria. The historical flair with moat and driveway makes it something very special. The castle was divided into two castle wings after the 2nd World War. Now a new owner is being sought for the right half of the castle. The left part, which is inhabited by the family of the builder, is not for sale.
During the 30-year war the renaissance castle was burnt down by the Swedes except the east wing, which still exists today. Thereupon the castle was rebuilt according to the plans of the Neuburg court architect Johann Puchtler. From 1735 onwards, the castle was supplemented by the associated Hofmark church and furnished by important artists. The altars, for example, are by Egid Quirin Asam. From 1749 onwards, the castle was given its final rococo appearance. These two nationally significant monuments, together with the surrounding outbuildings and the park, still form a unique ensemble today. The castle always served its owners as a summer residence and provided a setting for glittering festivities or great hunts.
Currently, the offered right half of the castle on three floors is privately occupied by the owner family. Some rooms are also rented out for events, weddings and shootings. The southern part is occupied all year round, the eastern part only in summer, as it is not heated. Current proposals for an extension of the east wing are available from an architect who is experienced in old buildings and monuments.
A project development for residential purposes is currently being planned directly adjacent to the castle complex. In addition to the new buildings planned for the farmyard, living in Sandizell Castle offers an attractive alternative in a harmonious ensemble of monuments with its own park.
The property will be marketed via a bidding process. The minimum bid is € 3.5 million.
Location
The extraordinary castle is located in northern Bavaria. You can reach the Munich airport in about 60 minutes. Cities like Ingolstadt or Augsburg are only about 40 minutes away by car. The regional train takes you to Augsburg or Ingolstadt every hour. Shopping facilities for daily needs, schools, doctors and pharmacies are available in the village nearby.
